  • Identity Information: Full legal name, date of birth, and last four digits of your Social Security Number (SSN), used solely for identity verification.
  • Contact Information: Email address, mailing address, and telephone number.
  • Government-Issued Documents: Copies of photo identification, SSN documentation, and other documents required by the California State Controller's Office (SCO) to process your claim.
  • Financial Information: Property type, claim amount, and account details as reported to the SCO.
  • Electronic Signature: Your typed or drawn signature used to execute the Standard Investigator Agreement.
  • Account Credentials: Email address and hashed password used to authenticate your portal account.

3. How We Use Your Information

All personal information collected through the Portal is used exclusively for the following purposes:

  • To verify your identity and confirm your entitlement to the unclaimed property identified in your claim.
  • To prepare and file your claim with the California State Controller's Office on your behalf.
  • To communicate with you regarding the status of your claim.
  • To comply with applicable state and federal laws governing unclaimed property recovery.
  • To detect and prevent fraud or unauthorized access to the Portal.

We do not use your information for marketing, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to your claim.

4. Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for commercial purposes. We may disclose your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • California State Controller's Office: Your claim documents and personal information are submitted to the SCO as required to process your unclaimed property claim.
  • Notarization Services: If you use our integrated online notarization service (Proof), your name and contact information are shared with the notarization platform solely to facilitate your notary session.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose information as required by law, court order, or government authority.
  • Service Providers: We use limited third-party service providers (e.g., cloud storage, email delivery) who process data solely on our behalf and under confidentiality obligations.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including the duration of your active claim and any applicable legal retention requirements. Claim records are typically retained for a minimum of seven (7) years following final resolution of the claim, consistent with California record-keeping requirements.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the address below. Note that we may be required to retain certain records for legal compliance purposes even after an account deletion request.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. All data transmitted through the Portal is encrypted in transit. Sensitive fields such as SSN digits are stored in hashed or encrypted form.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
